Learning PDF By Yourself
Today i wanna share with you guys a post on PDF converters. For a non-technically inclined person i had the time to explore PDF softwares yesterday on my own despite offers for help from Ben. I did a report which i converted into pdf format with PrimoPDF and i realised that it only converts the distinct links (e.g. www.connieong.com) and not hyperlinks. Besides that i also had pictures with hyperlinks which are not converted. The fact is pdf converters only scan the image of the words file and change them into pdf format and only some good softwares can recognise web links but most of them can’t.Â
What happened next was me going on Google searching for other pdf softwares to try to convert my files. It also strikes me that i can find out what kind of software other people use to convert their files by looking at the document properties. So i went to open up a few of the existing pdfs in my computer and took a look at those with hyperlinks converted. Bingo from there i found a software which is very good to use. Trick is to look at the document properties of the pdf file. You will find which software created that pdf and then you can go google for it.
I found this pdf software called DocuCom Direct and it was a breeze using it! After converting the words file, use DocuCom Plus to edit the links in the pictures and save the revised version. I concluded that pictures with hyperlinks only can be embedded by editing the pdf and will not be converted automatically. Perhaps only those paid version of pdf software can do it? Well i could do with a freeware since i got the job done nicely too.
Hope that this post helps those who have similar difficulties in pdf conversion. I learned the hard way and now the knowledge is with me!
